"The Generations of Gale Hill" by Coles describes her life in Albemarle County, Va. She chiefly discusses several generations of her old master's family, with mention of slaves, servants, and social events, particularly weddings. The document was typed from Flanagan's longhand by E.C. Williston. With the manuscript is a copy of an 1892 photograph of University of Virginia students on the Lawn in 1892 including Buck and Winslow Randolph, Coalter Grinnan, Jim Logan and Fred Holting.
